Whether you spell doughnut or donuts, it doesn’t matter, because it’s National Donut Day!
National Donut Day is the first Friday of every June, and while we all eat donuts celebrating today, we would like to give great thanks to Dan Anderson for all his contributions to Hays County Food Bank.
Dan has been the owner of Dixie Cream Donuts for over 25 years, and he has been providing donuts to Hays County Food Bank for more than 15 years! Volunteers pick up donuts from Dixie Cream every day the shop is open.
Donating to those in need and to the people that help the community is Dan’s purpose for giving away his delicious sweets. Not only does he donate to Hays County Food Bank, but also service providers like the Women’s Center, Police Department and Fire Station.
Donuts that Hays County Food Bank receives go out to distribution around town and to some of our participating agencies like Southside Community Center, Hays-Caudwell Well Women’s Center and Crisis Bread Basket in Wimberley.
The Salvation Army created “Doughnut Day” in 1938 to honor the women who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I.
