CROP Hunger Walk raises over $2,700

Each year, approximately 2,000 cities and towns nationwide join together in the fight to help end hunger and poverty around the world. On Sunday October 17, 2010, the Hays County Food Bank teamed up with Church World Service and several churches from the Buda/Kyle area for the first annual CROP Hunger Walk. Neighbors walked together to take a stand against hunger, not only raising awareness, but over $2,700! A quarter of the proceeds will benefit the Hays County Food Bank and the Buda Food Pantry, and the remaining 75% supports the work of Church World Service. In more than 80 developed countries, Church World Service helps people to grow food, to provide clean drinking water, to help refugees from war, to alleviate poverty and hunger and to provide safety by addressing problems like AIDS and landmines. Thank you to all who came out and took a stand against hunger!
