San Marcos Academy National Junior Honor Society Assists Food Bank
More than $1,000 in food and cash will benefit the Hays County Food Bank, thanks to the hard-working members of the National Junior Honor Society at San Marcos Academy.
NJHS members presented 60 pounds of food and a check for $1,000 to Food Bank representatives Kate Shaw, Event Coordinator, and Al Scott, Operations Assistant, on the Academy campus May 6.
“The NJHS Food Drive is going to help keep the shelves of the Hays County Food Bank well-stocked for quite a number of families in the days to come,” Pat Tessaro, Food Bank Community Relations Coordinator, said.
NJHS members held a number of projects to raise money and collect non-perishable food items. They sponsored an informational booth about the project during Spring Parent Day and also carried out a “door-to-door” collection campaign on campus. Members then held a pie-in-the-face contest in April, where seven faculty members volunteered to take a whip cream pie in the face to help raise money for the cause.
